Apple Cider Doughnuts

Apple Cider Doughnuts will really make a gal smile! (But Jack didn't appreciate being covered in cinnamon sugar)

You guys.  Before I was pregnant I was all, "Sweets? Whatever."  And now my sweet tooth is a maniacal dictator.  I could single-handedly keep Francois Payard in business.  So when it came to my yearly indulgence in fresh-baked Apple Cider Doughnuts, I knew once just wasn't enough.

The fresh apple cider and one dozen doughnuts we picked up at Blue Jay Orchards this weekend are already gone.  But today I have a list of Manhattan's best Apple Cider Doughnuts, which I am pretending is for your benefit, gentle reader, but will actually serve as a reference guide for my very kind husband to appease his starving, breast-feeding wife.

Second Street at Bowery
(646) 602-7015
Cider doughnuts are available seasonally and will be on the bakery menu as the weather gets a little cooler.

Carpe Donut
Food Truck; for location follow @CarpeDonutNYC on twitter.
Carpe Donut's cider doughnuts were voted among the ten best doughnuts in NYC by grubstreet.

Balthazar Bakery
80 Spring Street (212) 965-1785
Balthazar doesn't offer cider doughnuts but give their seasonal pumpkin doughnut a try.

Breezy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill at the Union Square Greenmarket
Breezy Hill Orchard vists the farmer's market in Union Square on Wednesday's and Saturdays.  Bonus: you may even walk away with a cup of hot cider.

See that foggy top?  Fresh outta the oven!
