How to: Hyacinth

Hyacinth is a great flower for this time of year and is available at most markets for $10 or less.  The best thing about Hyacinth is that they smell wonderful and pack a big punch for a small flower!  Keep some next to the bed or in the powder room.  And if you have them in front of an open window, you'll love the wafts of freshness.

Hyacinth have a woody stem at the end.  Although you'll want to snip the ends off of most flowers before you put them in fresh water, do not cut the stems off of hyacinth.  Just take them out of their packaging from the market and place them directly in cold water.  Change the water every other day for the best results.

Happy Spring!
