A Mid-Century Marvel

Last Spring we visited one of my dearest friends from college, Mrs. Sara Flaum Ressler, and were delighted by her beautiful home.  Especially a marvelous, mid-century, indoor pool.  Sara is a mother to two beautiful two-year-old boys, twins Noah and Leo.  She and her husband bought a new home in Rochester just before the boys arrived and it is the perfect place for the toddlers to play with their growing brood of cousins.  With a spacious kitchen and formal dining room, it's also a perfect place for Sara to entertain guests.  So as we convert our office nook in our 1000 square foot loft into a nursery, I'll try not to get too jealous!

How amazing is this indoor pool though?  I love the structure and the lighting and the retractable everything.  Mid Century Modern is a design term used to describe trends in architecture, interior, graphic and product design in the mid 20th century.  The look is clean and classic with a distinctive retro feel.  It's a look I can't get enough of.  If you live in New York City and are also a fan, grab a friend and get drinks at Bohemian, a tiny but amazing Japanese enclave on Great Jones.  Their number is unpublished, so you may have to ring the doorbell in your best outfit to get a reservation for a future date, but it's worth it.
